CMCP Level 3-VATM
Vibroacoustic Therapeutic Music
Vibroacoustic Therapeutic Music
Advanced training in the effects of sound & vibration in a therapeutic setting
CMCP Level 3--VATM is offered as an optional advanced level of therapeutic music training. Vibroacoustic Therapeutic Music (VATM) combines the use of live therapeutic music with vibrotactile devices. The deep musical and vibratory effects of VATM can provide relief from mental, physical, and emotional pain. CMCP Level 3--VATM teaches the specialized skills and expertise necessary to safely administer VATM, expanding the scope of bedside therapeutic music practice.
Who Is Eligible
CMCP Level 3-VATM is available to:
- Qualified graduates of any NSBTM-accredited therapeutic music training program, including CMCP Level 2
- Music therapists
- Graduates of comparable therapeutic music training programs
This training qualifies for Continuing Education credits for NSBTM accredited therapeutic music programs.
What Is Vibroacoustic Therapeutic Music?
Vibroacoustic Therapeutic Music combines live acoustic music with vibrotactile technology that allows sound vibrations to be transmitted directly to and through the body.
The musician’s instrument is connected to an amplifier, which transmits sound into specialized equipment such as:
- Sound tables
- Vibroacoustic pads
- Speaker-embedded pillows
The client reclines, leans on, or holds the device, receiving both acoustic sound and physical vibration - often described as a musical massage on the cellular level.
VATM may utilize harp, classical guitar, keyboard, or other wide-range instruments capable of covering the full range of the grand staff.
