About
Mary Stevens is a versatile musician who has performed with beginning students and concert artists. Her artistry at the harp, piano, and organ has been described as versatile, energetic, inspiring, soothing, and exceptionally musical. In Havre, Montana, where she resides with her husband Rick, she has served as musician for numerous community, school, and church activities and concerts.
After receiving private piano lessons through grade school and high school in Chester, Montana, Mary continued to study music independently and taught herself to play multiple instruments, including organ, guitar, flute, harp, marimba, drums, and other instruments. She currently focuses on piano, harp, and organ.
Mary provides musical services to healthcare care facilities in Northcentral Montana. These services include entertaining public programs, therapeutic bedside music, and Vibroacoustic Therapeutic Music (VATM). The Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, Montana was awarded the 2015 Innovative Care Aware from the Montana Health Care Association for the Heart Strings program, utilizing therapeutic music and Vibroacoustic Harp Therapy provided by Mary.
Mary was honored with the "Volunteer of the Year" Award from the Montana Health Care Association for the State of Montana in 2011, and the Dr. James Elliot Award in 2011 for her services to Havre High School. She is also a Lay Ministerial Associate through the Montana Synod ELCA.
Mary is certified as a Certified Therapeutic Musician—Certified Clinical Musician, Vibroacoustic Therapy Practitioner, and Vibroacoustic Therapeutic Music Practitioner. She has been a church musician and taught private music lessons for more than 45 years with extensive experience in worship planning and improvisation in several denominations. She is the owner and program director of Harp for Healing, which offers training in the practice of therapeutic music and Vibroacoustic Therapeutic Music.
